Hey @khaggard – that field is for admins to leave internal notes about the donor. Not for the donor to leave the note themselves. To do that you would need to create a custom field on your donation forms. We have a Add-on being released for that soon or you can check out how to do it with code here:

Thanks for using Give! πŸ™‚ https://givewp.com/documentation/developers/how-to-create-custom-form-fields/

I have installed an extra filed, but don’t know where I get to see the notes?

Also, should I get an email letting me know that somebody donated?
I’m currently only seeing it on the back end.

    Thanks

Check out the “Display Custom Field Data in Transaction Details” section of the article I linked to above. Yes, you should receive an email when someone donated.

Ok will check that out. So if I don’t receive an email when I get a donation, what am I doing wrong?

    Thanks

Go to Give > Settings > Emails and scroll to the bottom. Is that the correct email address and be sure you haven’t turned them off. If that looks fine try installing the Check Email plugin to see if it’s not something wrong with WordPress trying to send emails.

I have two emails there separated with a comma…
To check that I haven’t turned them off i’m guessing you want to make sure I haven’t checked “Disable Admin Notifications” just below that, correct?

    (@dlocc)

Don’t separate them with commas… see below the field “one per line”

    Hi @khaggard

I think I can help as well. Yes, make sure that’s NOT disabled and make sure the email address you have entered for the notifications to be sent to is correct.

Further, make sure your site is sending emails correctly in general, perhaps install an SMTP plugin to help with that, or use the “Email Cop” plugin to see that emails are being sent correctly. Also of course, check your spam to make sure they’re not going there.

    Thanks!

Ops!! I missed that… embarrassing :|. Alright I’ll try the right way and see if that works and if not I’ll try the plugin.

    Thanks guys!!
