• … was obviously VERY frustrated with this product’s premium version initially & some challenges in finding support, where the documentation did not match my experience. After sort of “shouting” about it, got several excellent replies from their support. The issue relates to some other constraints that are specific to my implementation / technology environment. I am – as such – revising my review. I do find the free version helpful and I believe the premium version is worthwhile. I thank the folks at Wordfence for their work.

  • Thanks for your thoughts about Wordfence, Sharon. I’d like to take a few minutes to clarify this review for anyone who sees this.

I answered your email to our feedback email address in a little less than an hour it was sent about the same time this review was written. You complained about a cURL error 35 error and not being able to post a support ticket. I believe in the initial email response I told you a couple of ways to get support for the Premium version and how to access the free support available as well. And I asked for, and received the diagnostics report for the site which was extremely helpful in figuring out the issue.

As I said in our emails back and forth, the cURL error 35 you received is because your site is running a very old version of PHP that needs to be updated. Because of your IT department’s reluctance to update this many of your other plugins will also likely have issues. More problems will develop the more whenever you try to update them. It’s a compatibility issue with the software your IT department has locked you in to.

I’m still waiting to hear back from you as to whether or not you want to proceed with the refund or wait to see if the IT department tries the suggestion we gave as a temporary fix. Hopefully they will see the importance of keeping things up to date.

    Good luck!

Tim is 100% correct about what the issue turned out to be & its impacts. I am working with my IT department. I do recommend the free version of the plugin and I imagine the Premium version will be worthwhile if I can get the proper prereqs in place.
