# Duplicate backup

 * I am using BackWPup Version 3.8.0
 * I have only created one backup job which runs every night via WordPress cron
 * But, for some reason, the job runs twice and two backup files are created each
   night
 * I am backing up to Dropbox and two files are created every night 3 minutes apart,
   with different file names
 * I cannot figure out why the backup is running twice
 * The logs only show one backup, yet two backup files are created
 * I have set the system to email me when the backup runs and I receive two emails–
   3 mins apart confirming that the backups have run
 * please advise how I can stop one of the backups
 * thank you

   Sorry about the delayed response, by default BackWPUp relies on the WordPress
   Cron scheduling system([https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/cron/,https://medium.com/@thecpanelguy/the-nightmare-that-is-wpcron-php-ae31c1d3ae30](https://developer.wordpress.org/plugins/cron/,https://medium.com/@thecpanelguy/the-nightmare-that-is-wpcron-php-ae31c1d3ae30)).
 * So if there is something wrong with the built-in WP Cron system, BackWPUp can
   cause a strange issue like your case.
 * I would suggest using a real cron server or any online cron system could help
   because they run much more stable than the pseudo-WP Cron ^^.
 * To set up a server cron, there are many guides on how to do that on the internet,
   you could check them out, or better just contact your hoster and just request
   them to help enable a server cron for your site.

 * the link you sent is invalid – please re-send it
 * with regards the WordPress cron, can I use the alternate cron instead?
 * will this resolve the duplicate backup issue?
 * if not, is there a way for me to manually delete the duplicate backup job?
