Duplicate code in htaccess?

Hello.

Taking a look at the .htaccess file I noticed something strange, it seems that some code blocks are repeating themselves.

That’s it? or am I not noticing the difference between them?

Could you help me in what blocks can I exclude if they are actually duplicates?

There are four different rules. You could see difference related to lines RewriteCond %{HTTPS} and RewriteCond %{HTTP:Accept-Encoding}. If all RewriteCond are true then proper RewriteRule triggers (it will return index-https.html.gz, index.html.gz, index-https.html or index-html).

This section (“code” between # BEGIN WPSuperCache and # END WPSuperCache) is automatically updating by WPSC plugin. It’s possible to make better rules and you can see proposal on github.

If you are on HTTP (no-ssl) you can exclude blocks 1 and 3.
If you are on HTTPS (ssl) you can exclude blocks 2 and 4.
If your sites use both http/https you need them all…
