# Edit search widget input value

 * Hi all
 * Using the prefab search widget, is it possible to add an input text value to 
   display some text in the search text field (like ‘Type your search here’)?
 * Docs at [http://codex.wordpress.org/Styling_Theme_Forms](http://codex.wordpress.org/Styling_Theme_Forms)
   were really helpful with everything else, but I can’t find any way of of ‘hacking’
   the form itself.
 * Is the only way to do this building my own form?
