 * First of all: Great plugin!
 * I’m looking for an on-page edit function, so it’s possible to manipulate cell
   content without leaving the WordPress-site.
 * Is this possible in any way?

 * You can simply use Google’s own embed code, which puts the sheet inside an iframe.
   No plugin is needed for that. 🙂

 * I am aware of that function. However, I don’t find the function very useful or
   user friendly.
 * The bast case would be a drop-down, textfield or something similar to that.
 * Is there anything I can do? Maybe using a database as the “connection” to the
   spreadsheet?

 * [Google does provide an API to modify Sheets content](https://developers.google.com/google-apps/spreadsheets/)
   but that is not implemented by this plugin. Sorry, this plugin does not do what
   you are trying to do. A different plugin might, but I don’t know of any such 
   plugins that already exist. If you can’t find one, you can still do this, but
   you will have to write your own plugin to do so.
