During the creation wizard when adding a photonic gallery, there is a hint at the bottom that an album can be edited, by selecting it first and then hit the add/edit Photonic gallery button.

I have some issues with editing albums. I am using photonic so far for Flickr and local photos on my server uploaded in WordPress.

If I insert a flickr gallery and selecting the gallery and click on the add/edit photonic button, it will open a new wizard and wont edit the actual selected gallery.
However if i click on the photonic gallery and then hit the “pencil” symbol which shows up, then I can actually edit the gallery, as it shows me my previous selected entries made. Only problem is once I hit “insert gallery” it actually inserts the shortcode again instead of modifying the just selected shortcode.

Editing a photonic gallery containing only WordPress photos, editing won’t work at all and I always have to start from scratch.

Is there a way to make the photonic gallery actually show up in the editor field, where it is placed. Right now if I place a flickr album, the photonic gallery is represented with a white space between the lines. I know that photonic needs to load the pictures from flickr, It doesnt necessary have to be pictures just something like “photonic” to find the actuall gallery easier. Once I click on it, I can see the wordpress selection frame around the gallery.

The only reason I can think of is that you have a conflicting plugin / theme. In such cases if you switch to Gutenberg, or if you switch to the Text mode in the Classic Editor and select the shortcode you should be able to click on “Add / Edit Photonic Gallery” without issues.

Sorry, I lost you. You should see a Flickr placeholder (basically a giant Flickr logo) as per screenshot #7 here or point #3 under Photonic → Getting Started → Building a Gallery → Via “Add / Edit Photonic Gallery”, or the “Photonic Gallery” block. If you are not seeing that, it would confirm that you have a plugin conflict, and switching to the Text editor will help you edit it.

For WP galleries you will similarly see a giant WP logo.

One more thing – if you are using the gallery shortcode for Photonic (which is the default setting), it is easy to change it to something else. That might not even require you to switch to the Text mode of your editor. Follow the instructions under “Scenario 2” in the sticky post at the top of the forum.

    Hi there,

yeah, there is no placeholder and I am using the old “classic” editor before gutenberg. A placehoder would be awesome, as it would simplify finding the gallery again. I am already using photonic as shortcode. This is nothing which really is a big deal, but would make life easier 😉

Well, if you are using a different shortcode anyway, there is certainly a plugin conflict. Maybe your theme or another plugin is trying to execute Photonic’s shortcode and not succeeding (it should not be trying to execute it). Switching to the text mode will let you select the shortcode and edit it without conflicts.
