# Editing Strip payment error codes

 * Hello,
 * I would like to edit the Stripe payment error codes as they sometimes appear 
   incorrectly (i.e. card number too short, when it is actually fine). Could someone
   prompt me to where I can edit these?

 * I hope you’re well today!
 * The errors are issued directly by Stripe, we are not setting them. Stripe fields
   are generated by Stripe’s API libraries and everything “payment related” is actually
   handled by Stripe itself – we are only sending payment data to Stripe and fetching
   back results (whatever payment errors are given, they are from Stripe).
 * This also applies to card validation – which is always performed by Stripe’s 
   scripts and we can’t change Stripe’s validation behavior, I’m afraid.
