Editing User forces password change

I have a problem and I don’t know if it is related to Members, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction:
Whenever changes have been made to a user (for example if I want to add an extra course to the user), the password is also changed. As a result, the student can no longer log in. The student will also receive a notification that the password has been changed. And some of them find it very annoying that they have to renew their password without being asked.
How can I solve this problem? or is it a WP problem?
I have already turned on and off all plugins. I am using WP version 5.7.1 and all plugins are up to date. I have also tested it with different browsers.
One moment I change users daily and then no one for a few weeks, it may have been there for a while. So unfortunately I don’t know exactly when this problem started, I didn’t notice it during staging (apparently I have to test that too from now on)
