# Editor Author Bug

 * Hi,
 * Since upgrading from WordPress v3.0.5 to v3.3.1 I have noticed that Editors no
   longer have the ability to edit the Author associated with a Post.
    The panel
   is visible (I initially thought it was something simple like it wasn’t enabled
   in the Screen Options, but it IS enabled)
 * The problem is that inside the Author panel, there is no drop-down list displaying
   the Authors to choose from. This was working fine in 3.0.5, and I have nearly
   60 sites running from this install so a reinstall of the update isn’t an ideal
   solution. Does anyone have a fix for this issue??

 * Have you tried:
 * – deactivating **all** plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works,
   re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).
 * – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause
   problems.
 * – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a **fresh** download
   of WordPress.

 * Hi Esmi,
 * I have tried deactivating ALL plugins, and resetting the Plugins folder to no
   avail. I also tried switching the theme over to the Twenty Eleven theme and that
   didn’t work either.
 * I haven’t tried uploading wp-admin and wp-includes again just yet, as we have
   58 websites running from this trunk of WordPress.
 * I’ll speak with some colleagues since I’m new in my current role and wouldn’t
   want to do such a big edit on a whim.
 * Do you have any other suggestions I could try?
    Database settings? Access control
   tweaks?
 * The Author dropdown appears fine for Admin users, but Editors don’t have the 
   dropdown list inside the panel.
