# Email button link

 * Hi, is it possible to avoid the page ([http://www.addtoany.com/add_to/email?&#8230](http://www.addtoany.com/add_to/email?&#8230);)
   that opens with the email button? I would like that it opens directly the mail
   client.
 * If it is not possible, at least it would be nice that it opens in a little window
   like facebook and twitter, not in a new tab of my browser.

 * So a lot of care goes into how email sharing works today…
 * On mobile, AddToAny already skips the email redirect and opens directly (except
   for a customized [email template](https://www.addtoany.com/buttons/customize/email_template)
   currently). This works well because there’s almost always an email _app_ setup
   to handle email on mobile.
 * On desktop, AddToAny email sharing opens in a new tab to avoid issues with _web-
   based_ email clients that the majority of users use. Opening a web-based client
   _directly_ will navigate away from the current page in major browsers, which 
   isn’t a good user experience and certainly isn’t ideal for publishers. Not all
   web-based clients are designed for use in a popup window, so AddToAny doesn’t
   use a popup for the standard email service.
