HI spespam,
I haven’t specifically received reports of this, but it would help to know a bit more.
What version of AWPCP is this with?
Are you received ANY email from your site, such as new user registration?
Did you change any email notification settings under Classifieds->Settings, Email tab?
What happens if you change the admin email to something else? Do you get email then? (that would indicate a spam or ISP blocking issue)
I discovered that I actually don’t receive ANY emails from my site. It seems to be a problem with my host.
What is ISP blocking ?
ISP (internet service provider) blocking would be where your email server provided by your ISP is actively blocking incoming or outgoing email based on rules. A firewall can do the same thing.
It’s best to contact your host and find out why NO email is going through at all–that’s a low-level issue and will likely be why AWPCP isn’t working here.
The host said that it’s because of spam filters. They say I should use a SMTP plugin !!!! Do you think this is normal ? Any plug in to recommend ?
I wouldn’t say that’s normal. There’s a lot of reasons why a host has aggressive spam filters, but it’s always hard to say specifically why.
I haven’t worked with any good SMTP plugins–in general, if you have an SMTP server, you can have AWPCP use it directly in the Email settings, but that’s not going to fix your general site email problems. I’d Google “WordPress SMTP plugins” and see what comes up.
@spespam It’s possible the emails are being sent, you are just not receiving them. Depends on who your email is with, how your dns zone file is configured, and which SMTP server you used to send them.
Your problem is not necessarily spam, your email service could be dropping into a black hole without any warning.
What is the domain name of your FROM email address?
@awpcp i know of a pretty good SMTP plugin π
I tried with smtp but it doesn’t work. Which SMTP plugin do you use ?
By the way, the domain name of my FROM email address is gmail.com
If your Gmail used to work, and doesn’t work anymore, then you probably ran into this issue: http://googleonlinesecurity.blogspot.ca/2014/04/new-security-measures-will-affect-older.html
Your SMTP Session Transcript will tell you for sure, if you can access it. But you’ll need to use an SMTP plugin to get to the transcript.
Thanks for the input, here, @PostmanSMTP. Appreciate it!
