 * No matter what I do, the importer insists that my fields are empty. They’re not.
I’ve tried saving the csv file in a dozen different ways – from Excel, from Calc,
from Google Docs, with no difference.
 * I can’t see how to upload the file here, but essentially all it contains (for
a custom post type) is two rows:
    post_title first_name middle_name last_name
author_reference First Last First Middle Last [http://reference.com](http://reference.com)
 * The row headers are detected fine, and associated with the right custom fields.
But all data rows are counted empty.

 * Kindly use **Google Spreadsheet** to create your csv file. Kindly download our
   test csv file from [here](https://www.dropbox.com/s/63xauwbkox44li5/Posts.csv?dl=1).
Still if you face same issue kindly do share us your details to support(at)smackcoders(

 * I’m having the same issue. Interestingly, it’s only with upload to a custom post
type. I’ve tried using a Google-created csv, with no change.
 * 1. I imported your test csv file to standard posts. Everything worked fine.

   2. I used Libre Office to rename some of the headers in your test csv to align
with custom field names in my custom post type. The first one is “First Name”(
first_name). It is recognized by the importer, and automatically associated with
the csv column header. The import creates posts, but does not fill the custom
field. It also gives the error “First name is empty.” 3. I imported the same
edited csv file from step 2 to standard posts (to check whether Libre Office
had saved in the wrong format). It worked fine.
 * So, what’s not working is either custom fields, or custom fields in custom post
types. I’m creating my custom post types with [Pods](http://pods.io/). The importer
recognizes the custom post type, and the custom fields. For some reason, it won’t
   fill them.

 * Our free version partially support the Pods plugin.
 * Our pro version have the full feature to support the PODS plugin custom fields
   and custom posts.
