# Enable Firewall button doesn’t work…

 * This button doesn’t enable the firewall – it doesn’t respond at all. What are
   steps I can take to troubleshoot this?

   your message and sorry to see you’re having trouble with this.
 * If you’ve installed your [free license key](https://www.wordfence.com/help/api-key/#installing-your-free-license-key),
   we should explore the chance a plugin conflict is breaking the JavaScript on 
   the page containing the button.
 * Double-check the [browser console](https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/troubleshooting/#how-to-inspect-the-browser-developer-tools-console)
   for red errors that might hint at issues on this page. The best way to test is
   to run Wordfence as your **only** enabled plugin and also reverting to a default
   theme such as Twenty Twenty-Three. If you are able to activate the firewall, 
   then reenable your plugins and theme one-by-one until console error messages 
   return on this page to help find the cause. However, if you’ve already been able
   to enable it during these tests, the firewall should stay enabled.

 * Greetings [@wfpeter](https://wordpress.org/support/users/wfpeter/) – I disabled
   all plugins (other than Wordfence) and activated the 2023 theme – still the firewall
   won’t enable. There is only one error:
   DevTools failed to load source map: Could
   not load content for /wp-content/plugins/wordfence/js/chart.umd.js.map: HTTP 
   error: status code 404, net::ERR_HTTP_RESPONSE_CODE_FAILURE
 * I notice that this file doesn’t exist in any of our WF installations. Is it the
   likely source of the problem?

 * Source map files are for debugging combined/minified files in the browser so 
   won’t be critical to the running of the plugin in themselves. The file supplied
   with the plugin should be **chart.umd.1689623789.js** (number may vary from mine.)
 * We should see if anything on your server points to why you’re unable to enable
   the firewall. You can send this information to **wftest @ wordfence . com** directly
   using the link at the top of the **Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics** page. Then
   click on **“Send Report by Email”**. **Please add your forum username where indicated
   and _respond here after you have sent it._**
