I run a database about the touring Broadway shows in North America. If a show tours longer than a season, I like to create a table with the past tour stops and make it searchable, as in the linked page. However, I recently noticed that the filter function is very hit or miss, in that it will show up the initial time I visit the page, but will disappear if I refresh the page. (If you visit the page, make sure that you refresh after the initial visit it to see what I mean. You’ll also want to go to the “Past Seasons” tab as that’s where I have the searchable table.) When the filter feature disappears, I can also see that the full table is visible, even if I check that I only want a limited number of rows visible per page, so this may be an issue with the Enable Visitor Features function.

This could be unrelated but sometimes as well the “Edit” link will also not appear when I view a page, which forces me to find another way to get to that table.

Hopefully this can be resolved as I use this feature frequently for research purposes.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi!

Thanks for your post and sorry for the trouble!

I’m not really sure what’s going on here, but it looks like there’s a caching problem — even though the caching then would have cached the data from the “logged in” view, which is uncommon.

What could also be worth checking if you are actually still seeing the [table ... /] Shortcode when editing the page (in the normal content editor in the site’s WordPress admin area). I have seen plugins/themes that offer some sort of “frontend editing” or “live editing” which then breaks Shortcodes, by basically replacing them with their output.

Can you maybe check that? If you can’t find anything, please get in touch via the yellow “Send us an email” button on https://tablepress.org/pricing/ and I’ll see what else we can try.

    Best wishes,
    Tobias

    Hi again,

to add on, please also make sure that you are using the latest versions of plugins, in particular of TablePress, your page builder (Elementor?), and any caching or optimization plugins.

    Regards,
    Tobias
