# Encoding and file types

 * Hi,
 * We are using the current setup:
 * WordPress 3.5.1 and plugin version 3.1.1 we have installed ffmpeg and have added
   the MIME types to the .htaccess file
 * Within the plugin the thumbnails generate however the encodes fail.
 * Is this plugin able to convert .mov and .avi files?
 * We are also noticing that the ‘encode’ button is not always present depending
   on file type.

 * Are you getting any error messages when the encodes fail?
 * The plugin can convert anything your installation of FFMPEG can use as an input.
   It’s not limited by .mov or .avi but it is limited by the codecs you could use
   in .mov or .avi files.
 * Can you give me a link to a video that doesn’t show the encode button?
