 * I want to enqueue a script for the event-single template in functions.php, but
it’s not working. I’m using variations on is_singular(), like event-single, single-
event, event-single.php, etc but none of them seem to work. Something I’m missing?

 * maybe you can try to use wp templating like single-event.php within your theme
   directory.
