 * Hi,
 * Not sure if this is generic to all premium plugins purchased via 3rd party marketplaces
   such as CodeCanyon, but there is one example at least which ignores the settings
   to turn off the nag.
 * It is a plugin called Ultimate Addons for Visual Composer (very nice plugin too).
 * It ignores the setting to turn off the nag, and this might be because the updates
   API is hosted by Envato rather than WordPress

 * Have you tried other Disable Updates plugins to see if it does the same? If they
   all do the same, then I most likely can’t fix it.

 * Hey,
 * It is actually not important enough to me right now to test in much detail.
 * The main reason was I didn’t want a non-tech savvy client with admin rights to
   blindly click update on this particular plugin because it is very closely tied
   to the WP Bakery VC, and can break things if not done with a bit of care.
 * The other option is just to hack the plugin file itself and change the version
   number to 10000 or something higher than it will ever reach.
 * This prevents the update from being available for download, but it doesn’t hide
   the nag..
 * Thanks for your thoughts and quick response, but it is not a train-smash by any
   stretch of the imagination 🙂
 * I’ll mark this as resolved.

 * You can try version 5.0.0 to see if it fixes it.
