# Erasing Spam

 * I have got nearly a million comments on MathPickle.com – Every one I’ve looked
   at is spam. Yet when I try to do a bulk action to erase them all WordPress crashes.
 * 1) How can I erase all the old spam?
    2) I see many plugins to stop this. Which
   one should I use?

 * Literally, a million? Anyhow, if you have lots and lots and lots of spam to delete,
   the “empty spam” button may cause timeouts. See [https://www.raymond.cc/blog/easily-delete-all-wordpress-spam-comments-using-phpmyadmin/](https://www.raymond.cc/blog/easily-delete-all-wordpress-spam-comments-using-phpmyadmin/)
   for a couple of other options. The SQL option is probably the best. Read the 
   comments on that post for a final step for that option.
 * What anti-spam plugin(s) are you using? I like “AntiSpam Bee” because it has 
   an option to automate the deletion process.
