# Error accessing the database connection

 * Hi all
 * I would like to install wordpress locally in m windows. I installed Wamp and 
   extracted the latest wordpress to ‘www’ folder. Created database named wordpress
   in phpmyadmin. Configured the wp-config-sample file as follows:
 * Changed the user_db parameter as wordpress
 * user_name parameter as root
 * user_pw parameter as root.
 * Saved this fiile as wp-config.php
 * now when I tried to access [http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php](http://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php)
   it shows error as
 * “Error accessing the database connection’.
 * Please help!!!!

    now I use this exclusively [http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/xampp/](http://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/xampp/)
