# Error after installing

 * I just installed the Radio Station plugin on a wordpress installation, running
   the latest version.
 * Every time I try to activate the plugin, I get the message “There has been a 
   critical error on this website” and I have to delete the plugin manually via 
   FTP. I was wondering if you have any advice on how to get it working?

 * Just thought I should let you know that I’ve solved the problem.
 * My website was using PHP 8, which doesn’t seem to be supported by your plugin
   yet. Using PHP 8 causes this error: An error of type E_COMPILE_ERROR was caused
   in line 830 of the file /var/www/vhosts/[domain]/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/
   radio-station/reader.php. Error message: Array and string offset access syntax
   with curly braces is no longer supported.
 * I’ve dropped to PHP 7 for now to get the plugin working, though you might want
   to fix this issue in a future release 🙂

   for reporting, this issue has been fixed in the development version for the next
   release.
 * Ironically this file is the Markdown parser class from WordPress, which looks
   like it hasn’t been updated in a long time (at least I can’t find the updated
   version that they are using currently anywhere.)

   look around and it seems that Markdown might live in Jetpack not in core so I
   will check for an updated version there.
