I recently went through the full WordPress installation steps. I created a database through MySQL and configured the wp-config.php file and uploaded everything to my root directory. I get the following error, even though my database username and password all match up to my wp-config.php file.

    “Error establishing a database connection
This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.”

I called up GoDaddy.com for support. They confirmed that my uploaded files were correct. They informed me that there was something wrong with WordPress connecting to the GoDaddy database. Their technical department said they could not help me further, but to contact WordPress. Then I was told they had an in-house WordPress support team who charge $54.95 to solve my issue from the WordPress side.

I would deeply appreciate some assistance.
