# Error establising a database connection

 * Hi everybody,
 * I made a website, [http://www.davidvanlaar.nl](http://www.davidvanlaar.nl), and
   I didn’t touch it for a couple of weeks now, and a week ago, it worked perfectly.
   Now however, I only get the message: Error establising a database connection
   
   Also if I try to log in, I get the same message. Is there anybody who could help
   me? I put many hours in building the site, and suddenly it goes dark!

 * Hi, David, & welcome. I just tried the link you provided, & it works fine. Perhaps
   the server was undergoing maintenance? Also, please try clearing your browser’s
   cache, as that may cause you to get this message in error, when the problem has
   in fact been fixed.
 * Having said all that, hopefully you’ll consider making backups of the site periodically.
   Stuff happens, &, as you point out, losing your work is no fun.
