# Error "First name" needed

 * When trying to register to an event, I get an error message saying “first name”
   needed. I tryed it several times and filled out all fields including “first name”
   but I still get that error.
    (Finally I’m using the german version – maybe it’s
   a problem here?)

 * Do you have any caching plugins activated on your site? If so, please exclude
   all Event Espresso critical pages (found in Event Espresso > General Settings
   > Critical Pages Tab) from being cached.

 * Is your websites hosted on a managed WordPress hosting service? Some managed 
   WordPress hosts such as WP Engine have an [internal caching system](http://wpengine.com/support/wpengine-ecommerce/).
   You’ll need to reach out to your web host directly to request that no-cache rules
   be setup for your critical pages in Event Espresso.

   provider of course).

 * It’s probably not a hosting issue, but instead another plugin or theme is throwing
   a JavaScript error on the registration checkout page.
 * You can rule out a potential theme or plugin conflict by following these steps:
   
   1) A theme conflict. You can rule this out by temporarily switching to the default
   WordPress theme, then test. The theme test drive plugin allows for testing another
   theme without actually changing your site’s theme. 2) A plugin conflict. You 
   can rule this out by temporarily deactivating any other installed WordPress plugins.
   Then you reactivate them one by one, while testing the error condition between
   each reactivation.
 * You can also try [the current Master branch of Event Espresso](https://github.com/eventespresso/event-espresso-core/archive/master.zip),
   which has a change that will allow the server-side form validation to validate
   the form if client side validation isn’t available.

 * Thanks for the request. Because I had to many issues, I switched to another plugin.
   So I currently don’t need any help.
