# Error message, need help!

 * Hi everyone!
 * I just updated WordPress to version 3.6 and did a backup before, as I always 
   do. Then, when I was going to check my site an error message pops up:
 * “Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /storage/content/78/153078/ansolskydd.
   se/public_html/wp-content/themes/twentyten/functions.php on line 514”
 * and now I can’t do anything. I’m using Fetch as my FTP-program but I just can’t
   fix the problem. Please, help!

   shows is the error message.

 * I deleted the old Twentyten, downloaded a new one and uploaded it to my FTP-server.
   Nothing has changed. The error is still there.

 * Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder
   inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using
   [FTP](http://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients) or whatever file management application
   your host provides.
 * – [resetting the plugins folder](http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)
   by FTP or phpMyAdmin.
 * – re-uploading all files & folders – **except** the wp-content folder – from 
   a **fresh** download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of
   files & folder before uploading the new ones.
 * – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

 * I have now downloaded the newest version of WordPress (3.6), deleted my wp-includes
   and wp-admin folders, took the new folders and replaced them. The last error (…
   line 514) is now gone but there is something new:
 * Warning: require(/storage/content/78/153078/ansolskydd.se/public_html/wp-includes/
   load.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
   in /storage/content/78/153078/ansolskydd.se/public_html/wp-settings.php on line
   21
 * Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/storage/
   content/78/153078/ansolskydd.se/public_html/wp-includes/load.php’ (include_path
   =’.:/usr/lib64/php’) in /storage/content/78/153078/ansolskydd.se/public_html/
   wp-settings.php on line 21
 * What do I do next? What should I do with the wp-content folder?

 * You also need to delete and upload the root WP core files. But do not delete 
   your wp-config.php and /htaccess files.
