 * I want to resize all my images to max 1200px. Height is not important. I am trying
   to resize a few images and it tells me error. For example, I have an image that
   is 2679w x 3572h and want to resize it to 1200px wide. Why is it giving me the
   below error please?
 * ERROR: 2025/04/mini-egg-cookies-3.jpg (File size of resized image was larger
   than the original)
 * My settings are on 1200px max width and 1920px max height for images in a post&
   images in the media library. I’ve disabled it for images uploaded elsewhere

 * Hi [@adele0205](https://wordpress.org/support/users/adele0205/)
 * This message means that when scaling the image, the file size ended up being
   larger than the original upload. Given that this is a JPG (and not a PNG masquerading
   as a JPG which I’ve seen as an issue before), I would check your JPG quality
   settings. Shane had a good write-up about this on a previous question about it(
   all the whys and hows):

 * Hello!
 * Thanks for this, that thread was helpful.
 * Not sure if I am doing something completely wrong but for example on this page:
   [https://desertislanddishes.co/torta-pasqualina/](https://desertislanddishes.co/torta-pasqualina/)
   I resized the main images using the plug-in in the back end so I clicked ‘resize
   image’ and it resized it to 1200x1600px. But when I open the page and download
   an image and look at properties, it’s still massive.
 * And when I right click (on chrome) and click ‘inspect’ and look at the dimensions,
   it’s saying 981x734px which is far too small. I’m not sure which is right or
   what to do?
 * Thank you

 * Hi [@adele0205](https://wordpress.org/support/users/adele0205/)
 * So, I think it may be a caching issue you are running into that’s keeping the
   old image in there, but it could be more. First, the dimensions that you are
   seeing when you inspect the element are probably the “Rendering” size. That’s
   the size of the space that the image is being put into. The “Intrinsic” size
   is the size of the actual images. Really, when serving images, you should serve
   a correctly sized image for the space provided. That’s where things like dynamic,
   or responsive, images come into play, but that’s a whole other conversation.
 * What happens when you click the “Resize Image” option? Does it say ‘OK’ and say
   that it resized the image? If so… can you try opening that main page in an incognito
   window? If it doesn’t say OK, can you try adding those dimensions (1200 and 1600)
   to the sizes for the other options in Imsanity? So, put 1200 and 1600 in the
   spot for “Images uploaded to a page/post” section, save, then go try to resize
   that image and see what happens. Then, again, open that page in an incognito
   window and inspect it.
 * If it’s still not working, I think maybe contact us directly and we can work
   a little more closely with the details: [https://ewww.io/contact-us/](https://ewww.io/contact-us/)
