    Hello,

    We have a customer that did a 218€ payment with Stripe credit card payment (Visa).

    It seems to have failed SCA and it got rejected by stripe.

    However the customer did not get any notification on this app to complete strong authentication.

    How can we fix this ? How to troubleshoot this kind of problem please?

    Error: Error when processing payment: The provided PaymentMethod has failed authentication. You can provide payment_method_data or a new PaymentMethod to attempt to fulfill this PaymentIntent again.

    The issue you’re facing is related to Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), which is required for payments in the EU. The payment failed because the customer didn’t complete the authentication step, such as entering a code from their bank or using biometric verification.

    Could you let me know which Stripe payment processing plugin you’re using so I can provide more specific guidance?

    Our site uses WooCommerce Stripe Gateway addin to process card payments with stripe.

    Please note that our customer did not get any notification on his baking app to authenticate and confirm the payment. The payment just quickly failed on the web site.

    How can we troubleshoot this please?

    Thanks for clarifying. There could be several reasons why this is happening.

    Sometimes, the banking app itself might have issues that prevent the SCA notification from being triggered or displayed. The customer could also check with their bank to ensure there are no issues on their end that could be blocking the authentication process.

    Just curious, did they try again after waiting for a while and confirming that the correct card details were entered?

    To troubleshoot what we have access to, please check if you’re using the latest versions of the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway plugin, WooCommerce, and WordPress core. Please also send us a screenshot of the order details, including the order notes, like this, as it might give us more clues.
