 * Hello!
 * I’m updating a website that has been 5 years without anybody touching it. It
   had some plugins related to WPML (multilingual CMS 3.1.5, string translation
   2.0.5 and translation management 1.9.4). It looks like these plugins hasn’t been
   updating properly like the other plugins that were already on the website before
   I touched it.
 * Because these plugins were creating issues with the shop (because of being an
   old version, I supposed), I’ve deactivated them for the moment, while looking
   how to update them. I’ve tried to update it manually, uploading the plugin “WooCommerce
   Multilingual”, but when I activated it, all the WPML showed a warning about being
   an inactivated version. Then, if I click on it, it sends me to the page of WPML
   to buy it.
 * The plugin was working just fine before, and I only deactivated them because
   of the issue they were causing on the shop. Half the categories didn’t show properly
   on the URL, and it seems to be an issue related to this plugins being too old(
   even if they didn’t show any warning about needing an update or anything).
 * Is it any way to solve this issue? Thank you so much.
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Ferror-updating-plugin-7%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@zurdac](https://wordpress.org/support/users/zurdac/),
 * Please take a look at this:
    [https://wpml.org/errata/updating-wpml-in-a-secure-way-from-a-very-old-version/](https://wpml.org/errata/updating-wpml-in-a-secure-way-from-a-very-old-version/)
 * You’ll need to create a ticket in the WPML support forum so we can assist you
   there:
    [https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/](https://wpml.org/forums/forum/english-support/)
 * The issue is not related specifically to WooCommerce Multilingual but mainly
   to the core plugin.
 * You will need a valid license to update and also the license holder user account
   to post a question there.
 * I hope this helps.
 * Kind regards,
 * Otto

 * It does for sure! Thank you for your superfast answer, Otto.
 * Because I wasn’t who started this website and the person decided (not sure why)
   to use their personal information to get the different plugins and themes and
   whatever need the website at first, I don’t know if I have a valid licence or
   where to get it. What I have is access to the FTP, where I can look the archives
   of the plugins.
    so I’m not like the best touching that type of archives, so
   before opening anything, is it there any possibility that I can find the number
   of the licence in them?
 * I hope you have a nice day.

 * Hi,
 * The license is attached to the WPML account. And from the account you can register
   sites (the number of sites you can register depends on your license).
 * As far as I can tell the site is not registered now.
 * The license owner can register the site under his account or he transfer the
   license renewal to his client:
    [https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/](https://wpml.org/purchase/transferring-account-renewals-to-your-clients/)
 * (if his license is still valid)
 * So, I think you will have to get in touch with that person or get a new license
   for the site.
 * Kind regards,
 * Otto
