Errors connecting when moved to new host

I’ve moved a website to a new server and in trying to get the plugin working I keep running into ‘Warning: connected to host-cpanel.net instead of office365.com.’

When trying to connect to smtp.office365.com. I’m not sure what maybe missing but is there further explanation to this error or potentially related to DNS server settings? I have the server to use a remote mail server but the connectivity tests returns to the local main server (host-cpanel) so wasn’t sure if something is failing to resort back to a local mailer.
