Events Manager Version: 5.5.3.1; WordPress Version 3.9.1

Under Events/Settings/Pages/Event Categories, there is a field for DEFAULT LIST ORDERING.
At the bottom of that drop-down list is the choice of ORDER BY TERM_GROUP.
I need an understanding of “TERM_GROUP” as used there. The more information the better.
    Thanks.

    Just to provide context:

We would like to categorize by:
    1) State (as in US states)
    2) Type of Event (such as daily play, tournaments, training, etc.)

I’m not sure if all of those (group 1 and group 2) should be included in one category list; or, if the “term_group” opens the door for multiple category lists; or, if it better to create and use a second taxonomy.

We will be having separate pages for breakout listings by state and by activity.

    Thanks.

When using parent and subcategories, ordering by term group means to order by parent category.

Am I right in thinking you want your event list to look something like this:

    Arizona
    – Daily Play
    — Event 1
    — Event 2
    – Training
    — Event 3

    California
    -Daily Play
    –Event 4
    etc…
