• My locally hosted site, and every template (installed and not installed) seems to just be plain text. I haven’t started to make any changes yet as I have only freshly installed WordPress.

Here is an example of what the installed Hello Elementor looks like in a Live Preview (not activated). The same is consistent with all other live previews, and a lot of standard Previews aswell.

I have no idea what the issue could be.

  • I’m not entirely sure what you mean by “missing CSS”.

The screenshot you provided clearly shows some styling is applied on the page, which can only come from CSS. I don’t see any problem here.

What do you expect to see that you’re not seeing?

Note that activating a theme will not import a complete, pre-made website on your site. It’ll merely style the existing content… and all you have on your site is the default “Hello World” post.

Some themes have pre-made “Starter Sites” that you can install. But you need to first activate these themes and then install the theme’s own companion plugin to import the starter site. Also, note that most themes do not have these starter sites at all.

In the end, a theme’s primary job is to style your existing content, and I see that happening in the screenshot you provided.
