# exchanging wordpress sites

 * I’ve been completing a website for a client of mine, but only recently have I
   purchased a hosting package for her. Until she had her own domain name, I worked
   on the site by creating a test-blog directory on my own website. Now that she
   has her own domain, I need to transfer all the work that I’ve done from my website
   to hers. Is there an easy way of going about this, or do I have to manually go
   through, copy and paste all the scripts and pages?

 * make sure you have 2.8.4 …
 * you can export as XML file under the Tools >> Export >>
 * once you have installed 2.8.4 on new domain, simply use Tools >> Import …
 * some files and plugins you will need to install as well as any images of files
   you have uploaded .. these do not transfer over ..

 * My site is running on an older version, and I’m afraid if I download the 2.8.4
   version, all my information will be lost. There aren’t any other ways of going
   about this?

 * information will not be lost .. 2.8.4 only replaces he WP core files .. so your
   themes are protected and any uploads you have made ..
 * as long as you do not delete the files, it will simply overwrite the necessary
   files …
 * i am sure there is a workaround, but from my experience, 2.8.4 makes it EASY!!
