 * Hi, Im very bad at this, basically the back story is, I have a website built
for me around 2015 with the idea I would then take over control and be able to
add and amend content. This has been OK up until now. I am using a theme called
   Putty.
 * I have come to redesign my website somewhat and I have done the updates etc.
 * I am very crap at this but I cannot seem to:
Change my colours on my theme (
see link to page where I am trying to do this) On editing text on my homepage,
when I hit return to try and get separate paragraphs, it works in the editor
but not on the actual website. Because I this I wanted to add a line, which you
can do in the editor, but again it doesn’t show on my actual website.
 * I gave up trying anything else in the end!
Is this because Im using an old theme?
Is the plugins causing me problems? Am I just completely inapt when it come to
   this!?!
 * Any help in layman’s terms appreciated and I cannot code to save my life!!
    Thanks
in advance Rach – frustrated owner of Create the Scene PS Im available for any
party after this virus has been beaten!

 * I don’t see your theme in the WP repository, so I can’t help much with that.
 * I see you are using the latest WP version, which contains the block editor (added
in late 2018). It has new ways to do things, but the old theme won’t have been
updated to make the editor look like the front end. And if you are simply editing
an existing page, the content will be in a Classic block, which doesn’t use the
   new way.
But besides that, all web publishing has a difference in the amount
of attention you should pay to white space, compared to print. The browser will
collapse consecutive white space, unless you apply styles to make it stay. That’s
just what browsers do, as the content is rendered into the device width. That
is a good thing, because then you don’t have to be so careful to test your page
on every possible window size that your visitor might use.
 * You can use the Customizer to preview what your site would look like with other
themes (and see what options the theme has). Find one you like and it’s pretty
   simple to switch.

 * Thanks Joy, I have worked out today what Blocks is and have been restyling the
pages and it looks so much better! It was like an epiphany! I think the theme
is defunct as you say and this may be limiting the customisation…maybe! I think
Ill stick with the theme for now so I don’t start complicating it.
 * In future I would like to try a new theme, but worried about doing this on a
   live website!
