# Export Category “Tree”

 * Hello. Is there any way to export all the “parent categories”
    Example: Paper(
   parent) Legal>Woven>White (sub categories). When I export I get for white the“
   Woven” as the parent which is right but would like to get the other ones hard
   to designate with a bunch of categories what the first/main category is that 
   this item is under.

 * It sounds like this would require a custom PHP function, but can you provide 
   a couple of before and after examples of what you’re trying to do? For example,
   are you trying to convert this:
 *     ```
       Legal > Woven > White
       Letter > Woven > White
       ```
   
 * To this:
 *     ```
       Legal
       Letter
       ```
   
 * Or, something else?

 * Just need for when you export a product you get the “Product Categories” < this
   is what I am looking for when you export Product Categories not woocomerce products
   🙂

 * Thanks for clarifying. When exporting the Product Categories, you can use our
   filtering options to only export parent categories: [http://www.wpallimport.com/tour/data-filtering/](http://www.wpallimport.com/tour/data-filtering/)
 * The rule you should set is “Parent Name” > “is empty”.
