Prior to Folders I tried Real Media Library and Enhanced Media Library. When I installed Folders, Folder Settings -> Tools -> Export/Import prompted me to import the structure created by the previous plugins. Importing worked great, so I removed the previous plugins from my site and now use Folders for media organization.

I’ve noticed that Export/Import is still prompting me to “Click import to start importing external folders” even though I already did so. Also, my database still has tables from Real Media Library & Enhanced Media Library.

My question is, after importing from the prior plugins, should I delete (drop) the tables created by the earlier plugins that I’ve uninstalled? I understand that Folders does not create its own database table. So I’m just trying to make sure that after importing, Folders no longer needs access to tables created by previously installed media plugins.

    Thank you,

    Hey @davi8r ,

    Thanks for your comment!
I can confirm that after importing data from 3rd party plug-ins, you can absolutely go ahead and deactivate those plug-ins.
Just to be on the safe side, we always recommend taking a working backup of your site before doing this.
The reason you still see import prompts is because the Folders plug-in notifies whenever a 3rd party plugin is found to import, even if you have already imported. Once you deactivate those plug-ins, you should stop seeing the import prompts.
We will however work on improving this flow in our next releases by stopping to display the prompts as soon as a user has done the import.
Please let me know your thoughts? If you want me to notify you when this is available, please drop me a line at [email protected] or leave me your email address 🙂

    Hi Karina,

    Thanks for writing back.

I think the import prompt could also be triggered by Folders finding database tables left behind by other media plugins, after they’ve been deactivated and deleted from the site.
