# Exporting Empty xml File

 * I’m trying to export my blog posts file from my wordpress site to then import
   to my new squarespace site, however, on my wordpress site, when I try to export
   my blog, it downloads an empty xml file.
 * I’m going to > Tools > Export > Posts
 * I’m not a coder, etc, so no idea what to do and why it’s not working. I also 
   use the Divi theme if that’s any influence?
 * Any help would be appreciated.

 * And after selecting “Posts”, you’ve not further restricted the export by category,
   author, etc.? i.e. You’ve kept the “All” selections for the options and not restricted
   by date?
 * It’s possible your theme or a plugin is preventing proper export. Try switching
   to one of the default Twenty* themes and deactivating all plugins. You should
   now get export content in the XML file. After you get what you need you can restore
   your normal theme and plugins.

 * Hi [@bcworkz](https://wordpress.org/support/users/bcworkz/) I tried again with
   no date restrictions, but it’s still empty. I’ll try contacting my Divi theme
   people before trying your suggestion of deactivating everything as there may 
   hopefully be a quicker option.
 * I’ll write back here if that doesn’t work. Thanks so much for your suggestion.
