 * I am in charge of a University wordpress multisite that allows lecturers create
   their own blogs/sites.Whenever i click on the export tap of the phpmyadmin, it
   shows nothing. Pls i dearly want to make a backup of my database as our electricity
   supply is not stable and can easily crash the database anytime soon. Thank you.

 * Are you trying to export the entire database at once? If so, maybe try exporting
   one table at a time. I have seen servers hit memory and timeout issues with large
   exports.
