When “Basic Protection” is enabled, I can install plugins.

When “Extended Protection” is enabled, I get constant errors: Installation failed: Could not copy file.

When I revert back to “Basic Protection“, I can again install plugins…

    Hi @lokmeup!

That does seem strange as the error sounds like file permissions on your server, but I’d expect you to be seeing problems regardless of Wordfence’s protection level if that was the case. Have you tried running a plugin installation while Learning Mode is turned on? You could also check for blocks in Live Traffic when you try to install plugins, but Learning Mode is the easier thing to try first. Both methods are explained on this page: https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

Might have been coincidence, now it is doing it whether Extended Protection is enabled or not…

Interesting @lokmeup, it may have been a temporary issue or something your host has rectified if other customers were also seeing issues there. By all means start up a new topic if you have any Wordfence questions in future and we’ll be happy to help!

    Peter.
