Hello, I have the Add Meta Data plug in and have been using it for quite some time. Up until two days ago I have not had any issues. But as of two days ago my posting on Facebook during the share is having issues. I initially thought it was a Jetpack issue, but after talking with them, it appears it could be something within how Facebook is doing things now and that maybe this plug needs to be updated. But I’m not sure.

The issue is that the image of my blog site (a rock formation surrounded by water) normally has been carried over from it to Facebook each time a post was published from WordPress to Facebook. As of two nights ago that stopped happening. According to Jetpack’s team, they helped me so far to say that it looks like the add meta data is somehow affecting this now.

I had this issue several months back and I believe you told me that a fix was needed to this plug in which you did. Can you take a look at my site – http://www.thetwelfthstep.com and look at the postings for the 16th and the 17th which are two “thoughts for the day”.

Neither showed up correctly and i’ve changed nothing for months? When I used the Facebook debug tool, it mentioned an error with the twitter cards feature, so I unchecked that box in your plugin but that didn’t help either. Please help ASAP ok?

    Sincerely,
    Andrew Arthur Dawson

By the way, this is what I got in the debug tool if I had the Twitter Cards checked –

Extraneous Property Objects of this type do not allow properties named ‘twitter:card’.
Extraneous Property Objects of this type do not allow properties named ‘twitter:creator’.
Extraneous Property Objects of this type do not allow properties named ‘twitter:site’.
Extraneous Property Objects of this type do not allow properties named ‘twitter:title’.
Extraneous Property Objects of this type do not allow properties named ‘twitter:description’.
Parser Mismatched Metadata The parser’s result for this metadata did not match the input metadata. Likely, this was caused by the data being ordered in an unexpected way, multiple values being given for a property only expecting a… See More

My guess is that Facebook has changed something and hopefully you can help me figure out if it’s a quick fix or not with this plug in.

This can be resolved by adding an absolute URL to a default image, eg site logo, in the ‘Default image’ setting under Settings->Metadata.

    Hope it helps.

PS: Although I replied through email, I also post the answer here in case others have the same question. 😉
