However, that file in the latest WordPress version has only 89 lines. * Since you have FTP access, you can try to unpack the latest WordPress (5.0.3) archive to your hard drive and then overwrite all the files on your hosting with those fresh files and see what happens. * Please let me know how it goes. * Kind regards. * Thread Starter [andyking007](https://wordpress.org/support/users/andyking007/) * (@andyking007) * [7 years, 4 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-3115/#post-11144447) * Hi there, * Thank you for your reply. * I’ve overwritten the wordpress files with 5.0.3 and the error still remains unfortunately. * It happened out of the blue, I did update some plugins earlier in the day, but had been using the site since with no problems, then a few hours later I noticed the error, when it had been absolutely fine before. * Any other ideas on what might be the cause? * I’m not a coder, so this is a little scary and stupidly didnt backup the site because its fairly new still – lesson learned, but I really dont want to have to rebuild it all again. * Any help is greatly appreciated! * Thank you * [siniplyrathemes](https://wordpress.org/support/users/siniplyrathemes/) * (@siniplyrathemes) * [7 years, 4 months ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/fatal-error-3115/#post-11144485) * Thank you for letting me know and sorry that it didn’t help. * It is a bit strange that it happened like that. however, please try this as a next step. * Download the fresh copy of Kale from here – [https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/kale.2.4.2.zip](https://downloads.wordpress.org/theme/kale.2.4.2.zip) * Rename the existing `/wp-content/themes/kale/` folder to `/kale-BROKEN/` or anything like that. * Then try to see if the website works (it should automatically switch to one of the default Twenty-something WordPress themes. If it does, create the new `/kale/` folder and upload the freshly unpacked theme files. Go to your Dashboard, then _Appearance -> Themes_ and do the live preview of Kale theme. This certainly excludes Kale theme as the reason behind this issue. * Could you again rename `/kale/`folder but this time also rename `/wp-content/ plugins/` to `/plugins-BROKEN/` and see what happens? * If the website comes back to life, great, if not, could you contact your hosting support and ask them to check whether PHP and MySQL versions in use on the server are at least at 5.6.x level?
