After updating from version 7.4.1 to 7.5 this occurred. I had to roll back to version 7.4.1 to get the site functional again.

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare seopress_return_settings() (previously declared in /home/customer/www/royaloaktherapy.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-seopress/src/Thirds/MainWP/MainWPFunctions.php:15) in /home/customer/www/royaloaktherapy.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-seopress/inc/functions/mainwp-functions.php on line 14

update of free version 7.5.0.3 was performed as well and the fatal error remained.

Bigger issue is that since the fatal error killed the whole site – the Search Engine indexing registered the site as non-existant. The Search Engine ranking reduced to not appearing at all now in search results.

What do you mean by “Search Engine indexing registered the site as non-existant”?

If you still have the issue after updating, try to manually delete the plugin from wp-content/plugins using a SFTP client.

Then add again SEOPress to your site from the WordPress admin.

I had to manually delete everything and reinstall.

The search engine (Google, Bing, etc.) results had ranked higher after improvements last month, now the ranking results do not show the site showing up at all. Google shows that the indexing occurred while the site was down and showed the site as no longer active (all pages http status 404). I used the “instant indexing” tool but we’ll have to see if the ranking improves again.

I still can not find the site in any search results now… This is a significant setback after the SEO was improved.
