 * I got a fatal error after I inserted the ‘never clear history’ code at the bottom
   of the index file of the plugin. I am new to WP as well as coding. So where am
   I supposed to insert it, if not in the index file?

 * That code only works for recen versions of PHP. Are you perhaps running an old
   version, like 5.2 or something?

 * my current php version is 5.2.17
 * so is the code compatible with the version i have? and if not, then can i do 
   something about it? is there no other way to disable the ‘clear history’ option?
 * and i just saw the latest version is 5.5.8. i think its time i ask my host to
   update the php version from their end. 😐
