Hi @matheleine,
Weird, Could you please try to download BackWPUp directly https://downloads.wp.xz.cn/plugin/backwpup.3.5.1.zip and then do a manually restore by going to Plugins -> add new -> upload new plugin?
Thanks!
But I can’t even login to my administration panel. 🙁
@matheleine
Please using CPanel or FTP to manually remove folder backwpup in your root folder /wp-content/plugins

I am having the same problem. Our website is entirely offline, only showing the following message; can’t even access the WordPress Dashboard.
Warning: require_once(/var/www/web/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/inc/class-system-requirements.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/web/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/backwpup.php on line 562 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/var/www/web/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/inc/class-system-requirements.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /var/www/web/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/backwpup.php on line 562
You recommend above going directly to the file manager on the server and manually removing the backwpup folder. I am nervous about doing so in case it further impacts the site and compounds a problem which is already causing mild panic (!) and loss of business revenue.
Please help!!
Hi @lch001
So you got the issue with latest 3.6.1 update?
I am nervous about doing so in case it further impacts the site and compounds a problem which is already causing mild panic (!) and loss of business revenue., no, delete BackWPUp folder directly will not make any damage to your site! just one issue is BackWPUp will not working anymore(of course)
Thanks for getting back to me to quickly.
Yes, latest update. I did as you suggested – deleted the plugin directly in the file manager which did allow me back into the WordPress dashboard (thankfully!).
I downloaded a fresh, new copy of the BackWPup plugin and uploaded it via the WordPress ‘install plugin’ function.
The site is now online again, but every page has a bunch of code littering the top and making the entire site look very unappealing and half-built (see: http://www.lesserian.co.uk ).
The error message on every page of the site now says:
Notice: add_shortcode was called incorrectly. Invalid shortcode name: . Do not use spaces or reserved characters: & / < > [ ] = Please see Debugging in WordPress for more information. (This message was added in version 4.4.0.) in /var/www/web/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4161 Notice: The called constructor method for WP_Widget in Whistles_Widget is deprecated since version 4.3.0! Any clues as to what I can try next?
Hi @lch001,
Undefined property: EasyColumns::$use_custom in /var/www/web/wp-content/plugins/easy-columns/easy-columns.php on line 233 this issue didn’t come from BackWPUp 🙂
Maybe you install a plugin called Easy Column or something like this that cause the problem 🙂
