• Just upgraded to WP 4.4 and I’m getting “Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted” when I try to Customise or Upgrade ANY theme.

I dont think this is a WP/PHP memory allocation issue!
    1. My site’s memory was recently upgraded.
    2. The published (VPS Server) site is working fine – albeit with a generic uncustomised theme
3 All my plugins have be deleted.
    4. My WP/Theme configuration is already working perfectly on another (Shared Hosting) site (with less memory and lots of plugins too)

I’m guessing something is gone wrong in my installation/DB that is demanding excess memory and that increasing PHP memory allocation wont deal with the root cause.

Any ideas on where to explore next?

    Thanks in anticipation

    M.

  • Have you tried disabling all plugins and switching to one of the default themes?

    Hi Rajesh

All Plugins were disabled and deleted.
All Themes were deleted (I manually installed latest version of WP Twenty Sixteen).

Incidentally, I’ve since fixed the SYMPTOMs by upgrading PHP Memory allocation
so dashboard functionality is restored. But I still cant understand the CAUSE (esp since the same configuration works perfectly on another site.
