Fatal Error and Can't get into Admin

    Initially after a server upgrade one of our sites (with an old version of WordPress and an old theme) ended up with many “Strict Standards” errors. The site showed, with all these errors first, but I could not get to the WP Admin area. I read of similar issues… and did the following:

    1. upgraded WP via my sites cpanel
    2. deleted the theme

    Now all I get is this error:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_multisite() in /home/anonymou/public_html/wp-includes/default-constants.php on line 20

    No website showing and still cannot acccess the WP Admin area.

    Suggestions? My site has now been down for almost 2 days.
