• Hi all – Long time fan of WordPress, but I’ve got in a tangle and can’t find owt in the forum on this one so hopefully any help will be useful for those like me.

I happily installed WordPress for my blog at http://www.planisher.co.uk six months ago. I’ve just bought another domain (www.yesterhistoricalsoc.org.uk) and started the process of installing it on the same hosting and via the same database. Had a really spotty internet connection while trying to add the WordPress files to the folder so I deleted them and when I went to the planisher site this morning I got this –

Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp() in /home/planishe/public_html/wp-blog-header.php on line 14

I’m now worried that I’ve accidentally deleted a folder in the planisher directory. I should add that I added the WordPress folders to the root directory for the original WP install six months ago and I’ve added a folder ‘Yesterhistoricalsoc.org.uk’ in the root which I started copying the WP folders over to yesterday. There’s now just an empty cgi-bin folder and file called .ftpquota in the yester folder.

Any thoughts or suggestions as to next steps, whether it’s highlighting folders it’d be safe for me to copy over again to the Planisher install, problems with the directory structure I’ve got, or any other help would be really, really awesome.

    Thanks for help in advance.

    Robert

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress 3.0.1.

Thanks esmi. I’ll give that a go and report back!

Well, I’ve downloaded WP and cross referenced the files between the fresh download and what’s on my FTP. Everything appears to be there, so I’m not so sure I deleted any folders by accident.

Could my directory structure, or setting up a second user on the database I’ve got, be the problem? Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be behind the error message I’m getting? Really scratching my head here – any help greatly appreciated!

EDIT – Here’s how my directories line up. I’m leaning towards this being the problem, what with there being more than one copy of the root directory php files…

    .cpanel
    .fantasticodata
    .htpasswds
    .rvskin
    .trash
    access-logs
    etc
    mail
    public_ftp
    public_html
    tmp
wp-includes (last modified 12/12/10 – this folder is duplicated in the www folder (see below))
    www
(plus the 25 files from the root of the WP fresh install folder, including index.php. All dated 12/12/10, which is when I tried to setup the installation for the Yesterhistoricalsoc domain. There’s no config.php in here tho)

Tellingly, the www folder includes –

    _private
    _vti_bin
    _vti_cnf
    _vti_log
    _vti_pvt
    _vti_txt
    cgi-bin
    images
    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-includes (again – last modified 03/11/10)
yesterhistoricalsoc (the new domain I want to install WP in)
(plus the 25 files from the root of the WP fresh install folder, including another index.php etc. All dated 12/12/10 again. And an index.config file)

It’s looking a little like some of the files from my december attempt to ftp the WP folder have wound up in the wrong folder. Do I need to delete one of these sets of php files?

Anyone? I think this is a problem of my own making, but a solution would underline the proper folder/file structure of a WP install so I’d hope it would be useful for other people too.

Thanks for any help in advance.
