• Hi guys,

I have just automatically updated my wordpress platform from 2.8.6 to 2.9 and got a message that Simple tags doesn’t work in this version, hence I deactivated it. But after visiting my page, I received an error message in widget sidebar:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method WP_Error::__destruct() in /home/saltseu1/domains/saltinis.eu/public_html/wp-includes/default-widgets.php on line 735

Can you please help me to solve this problem ?

    Thanks in advance,

    J.

  • Try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin? Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

Thx for suggestion, but I tried it in a dashboard: deactivated all plugins, but the message was still there… Any other ideas ?

Error message could be founded on upper-right corner in http://www.saltinis.eu

I read through the topic, but haven’t found a solution… I have no problem with RSS.

Maybe I can downgrade my version back to WordPress 2.8.6 ?

Can you FTP into your site?

If so, FTP in to your site (I recommend Filezilla) and navigate to

    public_html>mysite>blog>wp-content>plugins>simple-tags

Delete that folder (simple-tags) and all files in it.

This will remove the plugin, and you should be able to get rid of the error.

Yes. I have full access to FTP and dashboard (and everything else is functioning expect that plugin issue).

I deleted that folder with all files in it, but the error message is still there :/

I still have these plugins: Akismet, All in One SEO Pack, del.icio.us cached++, FeedBurner FeedSmith, Google XML Sitemaps, NextGEN Gallery, WordPress.com Stats, WordPress Database Backup, WordPress Related Posts

I have the same problem like jusatasu. Can anybody help us? 🙁

geil, I have just “solved” this problem by replacing default-widgets.php with the one from the wordpress 2.8.6 platform, and no error or other anomalies were discovered…yet 😉
