# Fatal Error: options.php failed to open

 * I tried to update to 3.4 by updating through my dashboard on the admin section
   of the website.
    When I started updating, it stopped abruptly and said that I
   could not update at this time. I tried to go back to my dashboard in the admin
   section and it gave me this error: Fatal Error: ‘Failed opening required public_html/
   wp-includes/option.php in public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 8’
 * Please help and thanks in advance.

 * In the future, prior to performing an auto-update of WP.
 * A) Backup _all_ site files _and_ your MySQL Database.
    B) Deactivate _all_ plugins.
   C) Switch to an _unedited version_ of the latest default theme issued with your
   current version of WP. D) Attempt auto-update. E) Be prepared by studying the
   codex documentation to restore your site upon issue. Note: Many hosts can assist
   in backing up and restoring a site.
