# Fatal Plugin Error after update

 * Hello,
 * I upgraded the WooCommerce Plugin and now every time I try to log into my website
   I get this message:
 * _**Fatal error: Call to undefined function is\_plugin\_active() in /home/content/
   97/11777797/html/wp-content/plugins/smart-reporter-for-wp-e-commerce/smart-reporter.
   php on line 1048
    
   **
    Can someone point me in the right direction of how to 
   fix this? Thank you!

 * You’ll need to deactive your plugins via FTP.
 * Change the plugins folder name to something like plugins-deactivate
 * then try and re-login.
 * That or just delete the woo_commerce folder entirely.

 * do I need to download something ? I am not familiar with accessing FTP unfortunately:/

 * I am not 100% sure if filezilla will work. You’re going to need the servers host
   name, and login and password for you to FTP in. You can get all of that information
   from your host provider.
 * That’s going to be the only route you can take without direct access to the WordPress
   dashboard.

 * Filezilla will work if you Download the file, edit it in an html or textx editor,
   and then re-upload it.

 * I was able to sign in and change the wp commerce folder name and it worked.
 *  do I need to do anything with that plugin like re-download it or re-update ?

 * Yea, if you want that piece of functionality to work properly you’ll need to 
   do some research on what was actually causing the issue.
 * I’m not sure why that was even throwing an error, as is_plugin_active() is a 
   working function. Maybe it’s being called too soon.
 * I would try reaching out to the plugin author, and letting them know of the original
   issue and see what they have to say. Ask in [this forum](http://wordpress.org/support/plugin/smart-reporter-for-wp-e-commerce).
 * I’m glad you were able to at least get your site back up and running.
