# Feature Request: Default AltText/Title

 * First of all, thank you very much for taking over the maintenance of this great
   plugin, I’ve been using it for a number of years. I would like to make one suggestion,
   though.
 * When uploading or importing images for a gallery, I would like to NOT have the
   AltText default to the file name. Oftentimes, the file name looks something like
   DSCF0377.jpg, and that’s not what I want displayed to my users, I’d rather not
   have a title at all. So if you could add an option to not set the AltText on 
   upload, or add a Bulk Action to “Clear AltText/Title,” that would be greatly 
   appreciated. Actually, I seem to remember that that’s the way Next-Gen used to
   work, that the AltText was empty by default; maybe the feature to set it to the
   file name was added during some later release?
 * The AltText can be manually deleted through the Manage Gallery page, but when
   someone uploads over a hundred images for a particular gallery, like I often 
   do, that can be very time-consuming. The way I clear them now is by going into
   the wp_ngg_pictures table and set alttext to NULL based on the galleryid, but
   I don’t think the majority of your users are going to want to muck around in 
   MySQL.
